Linked Instructors

From the beginning of the project, we have linked with local instructors to help promote the transition into a club. We are fortunate we have some outstanding instructors nearby with excellent clubs who have supported and championed the project and are delivering sessions across Manchester.

Master Nick Brinklow

Master Nick Brinklow runs Jeon-sa Taekwondo - one of the UK’s leading professional Martial Arts Academies and is a certified GB Taekwondo Talent Club.  Master Nick has had competition success as an athlete and coach, and he brings a wealth of experience to his coaching, including having spent time out in South Korea training and teaching. He has produced numerous Black Belts, multiple National Champions & medallists, and International Champions & medallists, including athletes who have represented the GB National Team in major championships at Cadet, Junior, U21 and Senior level at World & European level.

Master Jason Mayoh

Master Jason Mayoh runs JM Taekwondo - a popular Manchester club with over 100 students. Jason has been involved in the National Team for many years and competed in the World Taekwondo Championships in the Philippines in 1995. In 2006 he was part of the Great Britain team at the European Team Championships in Sweden and has also travelled to train in Korea. He is a multiple British Champion and has coached many black belts including students who have gone on to represent Junior GB National Team for the European Championships and students who have gone on to achieve Master Grade themselves.

Martin Stamper

Martin has dedicated more than three decades to the practice of Taekwondo. His journey as an athlete saw him become a World & European medallist, and he proudly represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games n London.

Following his retirement as an athlete, Martin seamlessly transitioned into the role of High Performance Coach for GB Taekwondo, further solidifying his impact on the sport.

Since transitioning from athlete to coach he has guided a Great Britain athlete to become the first male World Champion and coached at the Tokyo Olympics. He has recently set up his own club the Martin Stamper Taekwondo Academy where he hopes to provide high level coaching at grassroots level while building a community of active and driven students.

Leyla Palser

Leyla has been practicing Taekwondo since she was 4 years old.

She progressed through the youth GB set up and, having registered medal success in International competition as a cadet, was promoted to the full GB National Team. She competed and had success as a GB Taekwondo Athlete before stepping down to pursue further studies.

Leyla brings her strong competition experience and high technical level to her delivery.

Josh Calland

Josh has recently stepped down from the National Team, after almost a decade of being a full time professional Team GB Taekwondo athlete. Josh competed at World championships, European championships and many international ranking tournaments, where he won numerous medals. He currently instructs from grassroots through to elite level Taekwondo and has coached Taekwondo athletes to national and international medals.

"Martial arts brings fitness, strength, promotes hard work and good discipline. I have seen the benefits in my life and in my son, Rico, who had seen it from birth and started training at four years old. It’s been there all his life. Having martial arts in the P.E curriculum is an excellent idea."
